by “some twisted person” I guess you mean me? ha, thanks! also, i would never use mousetraps, yuck. but it sure did look like dead mice! we emptied the bag behind the asparagus bed, hoping that some of the seeds will grow next year (mold didn’t necessarily kill them…maybe it’s GOOD for them?)
Yep, I was so disappointed…we picked these, put them in a bag and them immediately forgot about them in a corner of our kitchen! I’m wondering if they will still grow, we had absolutely amazing poppies this year and wanted to start these seeds in more locations. Well, we learn through our mistakes
I love poppies. I usually just scatter the seed heads in a neglected corner of a garden and then the following summer we’ve got poppies there But the winters here (New Zealand) are mild, so that might not work where you are. Dunno. Otherwise, I just shake the seeds out into a plastic container and spread them early in spring.
who we are: working gradually & hopefully toward a self-sufficient, sustainable lifestyle...keeping a record what we do - or attempt to do - on the way (gardening, raising chickens, preserving food, becoming less dependent on the energy grid, etc.)...and we are definitely learning as we go...
When I opened that bag, and saw the contents, I thought it was a collection from some twisted person’s mousetraps. Glad I looked again!

Poppy seed heads. We learned that they should be dry before being put away. I tried to turn them into moldy mice too!

Hope to see pics of your poppies when they bloom!
