I just bought some asparagus crowns at Lowe’s, brought them home, and started to pull them apart in order to put rootone on them before planting. Inside the ball of roots I found mold. Should I just return them? I’m not sure that there is enough root there to trim off the mold.
    Thanks,
    Dick

We trimmed some of the roots down so much than only about 1/5 of what we started with was left because there was so much mold; our asparagus did great anyway. If I were you I would plant the roots I had and see what happens. Plant them with compost and bone meal to give them a boost. Let me know what happens. When our asparagus comes up I will post some pictures and info about it…should be popping up soon!
