April Snow

April 7, 2009

So it is snowing this week, the temperature mostly hovering just above freezing but down below 30 last night. Even the cool weather crops that we have out aren’t fans of this; we’ve kept them in the hoop house since yesterday morning (note to self: getting the hoop house in place isn’t really a good enough reason to be late for work, although the broccoli might disagree). The bed I put in a few days ago with collards, chard, etc. is under a tarp. Tomorrow the temperature should be back up and the sun is supposed to shine; I hope so! I still haven’t gotten the beets out because of the rain and then snow that we’ve had…the seeds are still sprouting on the kitchen counter.

On the plus side, those of us who got a late start on seeds are now much closer to the correct dates for ’4 weeks before the last frost’.
